Ceres Landcare is a landscape design, construction, and stewardship firm rooted in Colorado’s mountain communities. We create landscapes that belong to their place — shaped by care, craft, and a long view of the land. At the heart of our work is our team: designers, builders, and caretakers who bring curiosity, skill, and deep respect for both people and place to everything we do. We are a team of designers, builders, and caretakers trusted with some of the region's most complex and beautiful landscapes. We combine deep local experience with an integrated approach from design through construction and long-term care — so ideas stay intact and landscapes keep improving over time.
Ceres (SEER-eez) is the Roman goddess of agriculture, fertility, and motherly care. For us, the name honors both nature's systems and the hands that steward them—reflecting our commitment to thoughtful design, long-term care, and living landscapes that grow richer with time.
Our history
Ceres Landcare was founded nearly four decades ago with a simple but enduring belief: landscapes should be built to last, and cared for as living systems over time.
Originally born of the vision of brothers Glen and Rich Ellison as Land Designs by Ellison in 1981, they championed a new way to design and live in outdoor landscapes in the high country, instilling a culture of quality and craftsmanship in everyone they brought on board. Their legacy lives on through our team of passionate outdoor devotees.
From the beginning, our work has been rooted in craft and accountability. Great landscapes are not the result of shortcuts or surface beauty, but of thoughtful planning, solid construction, and long-term care working together. That commitment has shaped our approach to construction, planting, and maintenance—prioritizing durability, ecological health, and a deep respect for place.
Our longevity is not accidental. It comes from showing up year after year, refining our methods, investing in our people, and standing behind our work long after installation is complete. We see every project as the beginning of a relationship—and every landscape as something worth tending for generations.
