Measured Renewal
Refined bones, renewed plantings, and a lighter water footprint.
This project began with strong bones: a well-proportioned front courtyard and a landscape structure worth preserving. Time, however, had dulled the planting palette, and water use no longer aligned with the site or climate.
Most existing plantings were removed, with a restrained band of ornamental grasses retained to anchor the original intent. Soils were replenished, and the irrigation system was renovated to be more precise, targeted, and adaptable—delivering water only where it’s truly needed.
An expansive back lawn was removed entirely and replaced with a subtle, water-wise circulation sequence. Crusher fines and flagstone steppers create an elegant transition between the new planting beds near the home and a surrounding native meadow, softening the threshold between cultivated and natural space.
Around the spa, the landscape was rebuilt from the ground up—nestled with water-wise perennials and seeded native grasses that settle comfortably into the site. The result is a composed, efficient landscape that feels refreshed rather than replaced: lighter on water, richer in texture, and deeply attuned to place.

What clients say
After buying our house, we wanted the landscape design to accentuate the house's recent renovation. I was told that if I wanted the best in the Vail Valley, Ceres was the way to go.
From the design process to the final execution of the plan, everyone at Ceres approached the project with creativity, professionalism, and with great attention to detail. We could not have been more impressed with the entire team.
Ceres created an exterior living space for us that has become the family's favorite hang-out spot. Apres-ski around the fire pit, looking over to the mountains … well it doesn't get much better than that.
Trust Ceres! They will design something beautiful and follow through with the utmost professionalism.
Everyone was amazing … but Chris's attention to our project day in and day out was really over the top. And, the lead on the installation crew! Jose Manuel who set all the boulders!!!!
