Terraced Horizon
Project
The design challenge was to organize a complex hillside into a series of structured outdoor living spaces that extend the architecture into the landscape. Each area grounds the home while opening outward to expansive valley views. Retaining, grading, and circulation are integrated to create usable outdoor spaces while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding terrain.
Planting strategies emphasize textural layering and seasonal variation, referencing native plant communities while providing visual cohesion across the site. Key program elements—including fire features, seating areas, and the pool terrace—are positioned to maximize views and usability.
The result is a cohesive system of spaces that balance structure with the natural slope of the land.

We began working with Ceres as we decided to update and improve our landscape. Cait did a wonderful job with the design and planning. She listened to our suggestions and adapted to our budget and needs. We are mid progress on the renovation due to winter's weather.
We also began working with Carrie as our maintenance manager. She has been a joy to work with — regularly checking in and offering suggestions and listening to our concerns. I compared the costs of maintenance with Ceres to past years' costs, and found them to be surprisingly in line. All of this with fewer worries and a great looking yard.
