At The Crest

At the Crest
A modern landscape shaped by wind, exposure, and life at the crest.
Set on a windswept ridgeline overlooking Beaver Creek, this landscape embraces exposure rather than resisting it. The site is shaped by movement—of wind, wildlife, and people—requiring a design that is resilient, deliberate, and deeply grounded in place.
Circuitous pathways weave through enhanced native planting, guiding movement across the crest while responding to terrain and sightlines. Terraced boulder work anchors stepped outdoor living spaces that extend directly from the architecture, creating usable ground in an otherwise unforgiving setting.
Plantings are selected to contend with wind and wildlife, reinforcing a landscape that is tough, adaptive, and alive. A symbolic sculptural element—referencing the owner’s history as a fighter jet test pilot—introduces a quiet narrative of precision, risk, and mastery of extreme conditions.
Modern and wild, the landscape remains intentionally exposed: a place defined by altitude, restraint, and the confidence to live at the edge.

“Working with Ceres Landcare transformed our backyard into one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in Eagle.”
When we purchased our home in Eagle, Colorado, we wanted to completely reimagine the backyard and create an outdoor environment that would feel both beautiful and natural to the surrounding landscape. We were introduced to Ceres Landcare through the manufacturer of our copper spa, who highly recommended their work. From the very beginning, it was clear that we were in excellent hands.
Working with Ceres was an exceptional experience. Adam Dudek, manager of the construction division, and Kathy Aalto, landscape architect, along with their talented team, were instrumental in bringing the project to life. Their creativity, attention to detail, and exceptional communication stood out throughout the entire process. They were responsive, collaborative, and consistently focused on delivering the highest quality work.
Ceres completely transformed our backyard. They designed and installed beautiful native plants and trees, striking rock features, fencing, and seamlessly integrated a stunning spa and magnificent fire pit into the landscape. The finished result feels perfectly suited to the mountain environment while also being incredibly functional and welcoming.
The transformation has significantly enhanced how we use and enjoy our outdoor space. What was once an ordinary yard has become a place where we gather with family and friends, relax, and truly appreciate the beauty of Eagle and the surrounding mountains. Many people who visit have told us that it is one of the most beautiful yards in Eagle.
For anyone considering a landscape project in the Vail Valley, we cannot recommend Ceres Landcare highly enough. Their professionalism, creativity, and commitment to excellence are truly outstanding.
